We at CAGSE feel the same about Latin.

Why? Latin improves the thinking, writing and creative skills in students of all levels and abilities. In fact, 60% of all English words derive from Latin.

CAGSE teaches Latin in State primary schools to support English literacy. Every concept that the children encounter in Latin is first explored in English.

Our strategy means that at the same time as teaching a new language and culture, we reinforce children's understanding of English grammar. Children are fascinated not only by the words but also by the context of Latin, the history, the myths and what the country was like 2000 years ago.
